Appointment of Peter Lee to Expert Panel

Wells Advisory congratulates our eminent colleague, Emeritus Professor Peter Lee FTSE on his appointment to the Expert Regional Education Advisory Group, part of the Morrison Government’s $134.8 million additional investment in higher education and set up as a result of the Morrison Government’s National Regional, Rural and Remote Higher Education Strategy.  The Advisory Group have been tasked with building on and furthering the work of the Independent Review into Regional, Rural and Remote Education with the end result being a recommendation of a coherent suite of policy responses to deliver improved higher education outcomes to students in regional, rural and remote Australia.

In a Linked-In post about the appointment, Michael Wells said “Good to see Minister Tehan build on the good work of the Independent Review of Regional, Rural and Remote Education with today’s announcement of Expert Panel. Congratulations to panel members including our esteemed colleague E/Prof Peter Lee.”

Feedback about the appointment has also been positive with former colleague Chris Patton commenting “A timely initiative and one that we who have lived and worked in the regions know is well overdue.  There’s still a lot of good work to be done in increasing participation rates in tertiary and higher education to get to where metros did post the Bradley review.  Former VC and colleague e/Prof Peter Lee will continue to bring the profile and passion about regional education in and for the regions as he did as a former Chair, Regional Universities’ Network (RUN).”
