Professor Andrew Flitman

Professor Andrew Flitman is currently Principal of analytics and higher education consultancy firm iMORSE, and has extensive leadership and governance experience in higher education across both public and private sectors.
He has held leadership roles including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) at Swinburne University (2007-2012), Dean of Science and Technology at Deakin University (2005-2007), and Head of School (Business Systems) at Monash University (2000-2005).
Since obtaining his PhD in Operations Research from Warwick University (UK), Andrew has built a strong reputation for business-oriented research and has authored more than 100 research publications and commercial reports. He is a Fellow of both the Australian Computer Society and the Operational Research Society.
In addition to his university leadership career, Andrew is an internationally recognised expert in financial (corporate and market) and strategic computer modelling with extensive commercial consulting experience at Deloitte Haskins and Sells (UK), Coopers and Lybrand Deloitte (UK), and PriceWaterhouseCoopers (Melbourne).
Recent projects for clients encompass both private and public institutions in Australia and the USA. Examples include a detailed review of a research ecosystem for a highly ranked Australian University. The review encompassed considerations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of research activity, as to greatly increase and diversify sources of research income, including research commercialisation and leverage of category 1 to category 4 sources.
Andrew partners with Wells Advisory’s clients in the higher education sector nationally and internationally with a particular focus on education and research strategy, governance and performance analytics, and research commercialisation.
